My name is David Manila, and I am the pastor of Ocean Gate Ministry, formerly known as Ocean Gate Southern Baptist Church. I have served as pastor for over 19 years. The church, initially founded by a small group in the early 1950s, underwent reconstruction in 1955, adding 4000 square feet for offices and Sunday school classes. The original church was only 1000 square feet, but their vision led to significant expansion, including new classrooms, a kitchen, and space for another sanctuary.
Despite facing adversity, such as all the windows being broken on the night of completion, the church embraced the challenge positively. The pastor’s response to the incident, attributing it to their failure to reach those responsible for Jesus, reflected a remarkable perspective. Eventually, the individuals turned themselves in, accepted Christ, and one of them became a minister. The church grew rapidly, evolving from a Southern Baptist to a more Bapty Costal belief system, emphasizing signs, wonders, miracles, speaking in tongues, and strict adherence to the Bible.
In addition to being a family-oriented church, the community actively engages in international food ministry. By God’s blessings, they have sent food worldwide, aiding Ukraine, South Africa, Mexico, Belize, and various local organizations. They collaborate with men’s and women’s homes, conduct prison ministries, and extend their reach throughout Southern California.
As the senior pastor, I am also privileged to be an evangelist, traveling globally to share the gospel in schools, prisons, and juvenile halls. In a world facing increasing turmoil, the church invites individuals to join them in searching for answers through the word of God, led by the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to impact the world positively, one person at a time, spreading the love, joy, and peace found in Jesus Christ.

Led by the Spirit of God, we’ve accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and, through baptism, entered a covenant with each other in the presence of God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we commit to walking in Christian love, advancing the church in knowledge and holiness, and supporting its ministry financially. Our dedication extends to family devotion, ethical living, and abstaining from intoxicating drinks. We promise to support one another, pray, and cultivate Christian courtesy. If we relocate, we’ll unite with a like-minded church, aligning with the principles of this covenant and God’s teachings.
